Donate food

Our foodbank relies on your goodwill and support.

Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in The Trussell Trust network is donated by the public – that’s why your food donations are absolutely vital to our ability to give everyone referred to us a balanced and nutritious three day supply of food.

We always appreciate donations from our preferred shopping list as these form the core of all our food parcels so quickly go to very good use.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept items that are:

  • Out of Date
  • Already Opened
  • Home-made
  • Fresh Produce
  • From the Chiller Cabinet
The BanktheFood app uses tech for good. It connects individuals who wish to donate food items with their local food banks. Via the app, you can easily identify the most needed items requested by your food bank and it conveniently notifies you when you are near a supermarket. This feature allows you to contribute to the cause while going about your regular shopping routine. The app is free to use.

Fresh food – We purchase a small amount of fresh food items every week to enable clients to supplement their food parcels.

If you would like to support the provision of these important extras, we would be most grateful, however, we respectfully request that this is done as a financial donation.

Our bank details and gift aid form are available on our website:  https://dorkingarea.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money/

Please also email us so we know how to allocate your donation. Thank you.

N.B. We cannot accept any donations of fresh food items – it is essential that we responsibly manage what items are provided and how much is made available.

If you are happy to drop off food donations, please see the table below for our supermarket food collection points. There are also food collection points in many churches and community centres including in The Christian Centre, Dorking.

To remind you what food items, we are in need of, do sign up to the BankTheFood app, which is kept up to date with the current specific needs of the Foodbank.

We always welcome donations and promise to use them to provide help to people in crisis. Occasionally we send food to other nearby foodbanks to support their work particularly if they experience shortages. This ensures your donations go to help people wherever in the UK they are.

Please contact us if you have any questions about donating food.
