🍲 Recipe Series: Meals from the Food Bank πŸ₯«

Introducing our first recipe in our series showcasing meals you can create using canned food items from the food bank. Today, we’re sharing a delicious and hearty Shepherd’s Pie recipe contributed by Carly and Danny Oberdries!

Shepherd’s Pie Recipe:

πŸ₯« 2 tins of steak or mince πŸ₯« 1 tin of carrots πŸ₯« 1 tin of peas πŸ₯« 1 large tin of potatoes πŸ₯« Oxo cube (if possible)

  1. Combine the steak, peas, and carrots in a pan. Add the Oxo cube for extra flavor.
  2. Boil the new potatoes until nearly all the water has evaporated. Mash them with a knob of butter or a splash of milk.
  3. Put the meat and veggie mixture in a baking dish, then layer the mashed potatoes on top.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes or until the mashed potatoes turn golden brown.

To make this dish even more filling, consider adding a tin of baked beans. Simply rinse the beans under cold water to remove the sauce, drain, and mix them in with the meat and veggies before adding the mashed potatoes.
