The Trussell Trust have reported that in the year up to the end of March 2019, a record 1.6 million emergency food parcels have been distributed through its foodbank network.
Benefit cuts and delays, the role out of universal credit, rising fuel and food costs all contributed to this 19% increase – the biggest annual increase in 5 years.
